Virtual Event

The College of Nursing at Xavier University would like to invite you to a Question and Answer Information session regarding the MSN Education, Family Nurse Practitioner, Forensics and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

All programs require a BSN degree from a regionally accredited college or university’s nursing program with CCNE or ACEN (formerly NLNAC) accreditation (College of Nursing will verify).  All programs also require a Registered Nurse unencumbered license in the United States.

Note:  We are unable to provide these programs internationally.

  • The education track is widely known that a master’s degree in nursing education can lead to higher earnings and better career opportunities, but earning your MSN from a prestigious university like Xavier can open the door to the nursing science career you’ve always wanted. If you are a registered nurse looking to move into a managerial, educational or consultative health care role, Xavier offers the option to earn an online MSN for registered nurses.
  •  The family nurse practitioner (FNP) will apply family-centered primary care including preventive care, diagnosis and treatment, as well as health maintenance and management of chronic illness to individuals across the life span in predominantly ambulatory primary care settings. The family nurse practitioner program follows an integration of the master of science in nursing degree program and nurse practitioner core courses and practicum experiences specific to the preparation of a family nurse practitioner.
  • The forensic track at Xavier provide students with advanced study of healthcare and forensic nursing practice. Forensic nursing science is the application of science and nursing to both civil and criminal investigations and legal matters according to the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN). This education program combines nursing and law while providing healthcare as well as collecting evidence for legal matters. Obtaining your MSN Forensic Nursing degree prepares you for legal matters which deal with patients ranging from issues such as sexual assault to patients needing intense clinical care. Victims of violent trauma such as intimate partner violence (IPV), sexual assault and neglect require healthcare professionals who are taught to treat them as well as collect evidence that can be used by law enforcement and in court to prosecute perpetrators. Workers in the forensic nursing specialization fight for anti-violence and are an important resource that promotes the rights of the victim.
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Psychiatric nurse practitioners treat patients with organic and functional psychiatric disorders. Working alongside other mental health professionals, psychiatric nurse practitioners use their leadership qualities and nursing education to treat disorders ranging from depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The online master’s of science in nursing- psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner (MSN PMHNP) program prepares students to work as psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners in a variety of inpatient and ambulatory settings, including clinics, hospitals and treatment centers. The MSN PMHNP curriculum focuses on facilitating the lifetime care of individuals, families, communities and populations’ health and the utilization of evidence-based, culturally-sensitive and recovery-oriented holistic care.

We would like you to join us on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 7:00 PM (EST).  We hope you can join us for this informal session which will be offered VIRTUALLY on Teams.
